Hibs 1 vs. Rangers 2 - May 02/2006
CURE FOR THE INSOMNIAC
It was an abysmal night of football. It's little wonder that the press are reporting that PLG is changing his arrival date from the start of June to "This Coming Monday". He more than anybody must now realise the size of his task.
I must admit that I feel sorry for Setanta, having just ploughed a record amount of money into the SPL, the product on show tonight definently wasn't worth the money.
You wouldn't have thought that this was a must win game for us as too many players looked like they were just going through the motions. With the exception of one or two, our team, unbelievably, didn't seem intrested!
As luck would have it though we managed to produce two, and that was about it, magic moments to bring back the three points and keep what hope we have left intact.
To the team :-
Mullet :- Good game from the Dutchman. Has endured a lot, from the media and the fans, but yet again, kept us in the game. Deflected goal gave him no chance.
RMed Verdict :- 7
Murray :- Unsurprising start for Murray and deputised ok. Not his most natural position and I think we will see a new face at right back next season.
RMed Verdict :- 6
Andrews :- Another surprise starter. Got what we expected from him though, crunching tackles and powerful headers just a shame he isn't a "footballer". Gets found out too often.
RMed Verdict :- 6
Soti :- Back to his calamatous best. More inclined to hug an opponent or throw himself to the deck than try and rough up his opposite number. Too many games he just isn't intrested in.
RMed Verdict :- 6
Smith :- Unusually quiet game. Never got forward to the same extent as normal. Was kept busy defensivley and did ok.
RMed Verdict :- 6
Burke :- Hasn't quite got the same zip about him just now and didn't hit the heights again tonight. Took a couple of heavy knocks that went unpunished which maybe dampened his appetite.
RMed Verdict :- 6
Hemdani :- Can pass and tackle but cant control a midfield. Reasonable game without ever excelling.
RMed Verdict :- 6
G Rae :- Must admit I spent the most of the game looking to see if he was on the pitch. Did little as we were overrun in the last quater of a hour.
RMed Verdict :- 5
Prso :- Started on the left but moved infield frequently to try and get involved. Was a driving force and our main creative threat. Set up both goals with sublime vision and touch.
RMed Verdict :- 8
Buffel :- Non existent in the first half and hooked for the second. Sums up his night as he failed to cope with the bad conditions.
RMed Verdict :- 5
Boyd :- How dare we criticise his work rate!! Was all over the park tonight, tracked back, won tackles and scored two terrific goals. If not for him and Prso it would have been one of the worst performances I'd seen.
RMed :- 9 (MOTM and well deserved)
Big Eck :- Had one or two injury problems but over the whole he failed to get the boys up for the game. Strange that, considering its importance??
RMed Verdict :- 5
The waiting now begins as we hold our breath and hope that Hearts make some kind of slip up to Aberdeen, who will hopefully have a wee bit more bottle than Hearts last opponents!
For now, we must Keep Believing
